a thought on following...

Jesus' call to follow him seems to be a call from the familiar to the unknown (Jesus says "follow" but he never makes it clear "where")... those who follow follow by faith... trusting Jesus into the unknown.
So often, I hear people share the Gospel as if it was about moving from the "unknown" to the "known" (heaven, happiness, needs met, etc.). I think these are secondary to what Jesus ultimately promises... himself.

I wonder what compelled the first followers to leave the familiar and follow a wondering prophet... I wonder what compels me...
